About Amboseli

Amboseli National Park sits in southern Kenya in the rain shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. At 392 km², it is compact but extraordinarily productive: one of Africa's largest concentrations of free-roaming elephants, including legendary big-tuskers, moves through its dusty marshlands with Kilimanjaro's snow-capped summit rising behind them in one of Kenya's most iconic images. Amboseli is also exceptional for hippo, over 400 bird species, and year-round big cat sightings. Best visited during the dry seasons (June–October and January–February) when wildlife congregates around permanent swamps fed by Kilimanjaro's snowmelt.
