About Nyungwe Forest National Park

Nyungwe Forest National Park in south-western Rwanda is one of Africa's oldest and most biodiverse montane rainforests, covering over 1,000 km² of cloud forest along the Congo-Nile watershed. The park is home to thirteen primate species including chimpanzees and Ruwenzori black-and-white colobus (whose troops can number 400 individuals), and offers one of Africa's most spectacular canopy walkways, a suspension bridge 70 metres above the forest floor. Nyungwe's hiking trails wind through ancient forest filled with orchids, colourful birds, and the sounds of primates in the canopy above.
