About Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in south-western Uganda shelters more than half of the world's mountain gorilla population across four trekking sectors: Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo. A gorilla trek, led by expert Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers through ancient afromontane rainforest, culminates in a one-hour encounter with a habituated family at close range: one of the most extraordinary and emotionally affecting wildlife experiences available anywhere on Earth. The forest itself is a biodiversity hotspot of global significance, sheltering over 120 mammal species, 360 bird species, and an extraordinary diversity of primates, butterflies, and plants. Permits are strictly limited; advance booking is essential, particularly for the peak seasons of June–September and December–February.
