About Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara National Park sits at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment in northern Tanzania, with roughly two-thirds of its 330 km² occupied by the soda lake itself. Manyara is best known for its tree-climbing lions, local prides that rest in mahogany and fig branches, and for vast flocks of lesser flamingo turning the shallows pink. The park's groundwater forest shelters elephant, baboon, blue monkey, and a rich understorey of birds including the black-and-white casqued hornbill. Despite its compact size, Manyara consistently over-delivers as a half-day or full-day safari addition to the Northern Circuit.
