The Lower Zambezi National Park stretches along the Zambian bank of the Zambezi River opposite Zimbabwe's Mana Pools, forming one of Africa's most pristine and dramatic wilderness corridors. The floodplain ecosystem supports enormous elephant herds, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, lion, and leopard, all viewed from both game-drive vehicles and canoes on the river itself. Canoeing the Lower Zambezi — gliding silently between pods of hippo and past elephant wading at the water's edge — is one of Africa's most extraordinary safari experiences.
