Greystoke Mahale is one of Africa's most extraordinary and remote safari camps, a collection of six open-fronted bandas built from salvaged dhow timber on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Mahale Mountains National Park. The park is home to one of the largest habituated chimpanzee communities in the world, and Greystoke's position on the lake shore at the forest's edge puts guests within walking distance of the trek start points.

Reachable only by charter flight and lake boat, Greystoke delivers an experience of complete wilderness immersion: chimpanzee tracking in ancient montane forest in the morning, swimming in Lake Tanganyika's astonishingly clear waters in the afternoon, and kayaking along the lake's forest shoreline at sunset. There is nothing else like it in Tanzania, and arguably nowhere else like Mahale in Africa.
