Kyaninga Lodge

Kyaninga Lodge is one of East Africa's most extraordinarily positioned and designed properties, a collection of hand-crafted timber lodges perched on the rim of the Kyaninga volcanic crater lake in western Uganda, with views directly down into the deep emerald waters of the crater and across the Rwenzori Mountains on the Congolese border. Each of the eight lodges was individually crafted by master carpenters from fallen local cypress, and no two are identical.

The lodge's setting, craftsmanship, and atmosphere place it in a unique category. Positioned midway between Kibale Forest (chimpanzee tracking) and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (gorilla trekking), Kyaninga makes an exceptional multi-night base for western Uganda safaris. Activities include forest walks, crater rim hiking, bird watching, and cultural visits to the adjacent Fort Portal palace town.
