About Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo Valley National Park rewards the journey to Uganda's remote northeast with mountain-framed valleys, open savannah and far fewer safari vehicles than many better-known destinations. Explore the Narus Valley for buffalo, elephant, zebra and lion, with cheetah also possible, then visit the drier Kidepo Valley for sandy riverbeds, borassus palms and ostrich country. Wildlife sightings depend on conditions and patient guiding, not a fixed checklist. Fly-in itineraries can connect Kidepo with Murchison Falls and Entebbe, subject to the available schedules or charter arrangements. Three nights allow time for game drives in both valleys and a locally guided Karamojong homestead visit. Mid-range Kidepo Savannah Lodge, premium Adere Safari Lodge and luxury Apoka Safari Lodge offer different accommodation options, confirmed according to availability. Ranger-guided walks and longer excursions are arranged separately according to local access and safety conditions.
Best Time to Visit Kidepo Valley National Park
The drier months, roughly December to March, are a useful starting point for wildlife viewing as animals gather near remaining water in the Narus Valley. The wetter months bring greener scenery and birdlife, but rain can affect access to some tracks. Conditions vary from year to year; confirm camp operations, flights and planned activities for your chosen dates.
